Chiller plant room controls

A good chiller can still run badly if the plant controls are wrong. We connect you with specialists who fix sequencing, sensor and valve faults, and set up controls for new or replacement chillers.

How it works

  1. Tell us about the plantEquipment, make, fault or project, and where the building is.
  2. We match a specialistAn independent contractor who works on that equipment in your city.
  3. They contact you directlyYou get a visit or quote from them. No cost or obligation from us.

Signs the controls are the problem

  • Chillers short cycling, or starting and stopping every few minutes
  • Two chillers running when one would do, or the wrong chiller leading
  • Chilled water temperature drifting above setpoint even with the chillers running
  • Pumps or cooling tower fans running flat out all the time
  • Low chilled water flow alarms or trips that clear on reset
  • Plant that runs well in summer but badly at low load

What a controls specialist does

  • Chiller staging and sequencing, so the right number of machines run
  • Pump and cooling tower fan control, including VSDs
  • Faulty temperature, pressure and flow sensors
  • Stuck or failed control valves and actuators
  • Controls for new or replacement chillers, so the new machine works with the rest of the plant
  • Hand-back to your building management system (BMS) contractor where you have one

Replacing a chiller? Plan the controls early

A new chiller has its own controller, but it still has to work with the pumps, cooling towers and any other chillers in the plant room. Agreeing who does the plant controls before the crane is booked avoids a new chiller that trips or fights the old one on day one.

Questions

Is this the same as a BMS contractor?

Not quite. A BMS covers the whole building: lighting, air handling, metering and more. Plant room controls are the part that runs the chillers, pumps and cooling towers. Your specialist can work with your BMS contractor if you have one.

How quickly will someone contact me?

We aim to pass your enquiry to a specialist within one business day, and sooner when equipment is down. The specialist contacts you by phone or email to arrange a visit or quote.

What does Chiller Connect cost?

Nothing. The specialist quotes you directly and you decide whether to go ahead. If you do, the contractor pays us a referral fee. It is never added to your quote as a separate line.
